restore from 32 bit to 64 bit

i am presently working on rhel3 32 bit oracle 9i. i have created one server with rhel4 64 bit oracle 9i.
now i want to restore the data file from rhel3 32 bit server to rhel4 64 bit server.
can i replace the datafile as it is from one server to another?
please clarify

This can be done either cold backup restore or export and import.

but one is having rhel 4 64 bit architecture and second is having rhel 3 32 bit architecture.do you not think that cold backup is platform dependant?

The only way for smooth operation is exp/imp.

if 10g better to go with datapump expdp/impdb

Hi,

RareDBA is right. You have an option as exp/imp. Or you should need to upgrade bit kernel of oracle database after restoring it.
