At http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/database/enterprise-edition/downl...
click on the "See All" for your particular platform (e.g. Linux x86-64) for the inidividual components other than the Database Sofware.
File 1 and File 2 do comprise the Database "software".
When i unzip both the files i get below files/directories in "database" directory . Which of these is the installable for "software" and which is the installable for "database"
-rwxr-xr-x 1 oracle dba 7808 May 25 00:59 runInstaller
drwxr-xr-x 2 oracle dba 4096 May 25 00:59 rpm
drwxr-xr-x 14 oracle dba 4096 May 25 02:13 stage
drwxrwxr-x 2 oracle dba 4096 May 25 02:13 sshsetup
drwxrwxr-x 2 oracle dba 4096 May 25 02:13 response
-r-xr-xr-x 1 oracle dba 500 Jun 10 11:22 welcome.html
drwxr-xr-x 4 oracle dba 4096 Jun 28 12:28 install
runInstaller is the executable to start the Oracle Universal Installer.
If you've never installed Oracle (11g or 10g or 9i) before, maybe you should read the documentation first ?
Either : http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E16655_01/install.121/e17720/toc.htm
or
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E16655_01/install.121/e17718/toc.htm
Besides, you seem to be confused between "software" and "database". When you *INSTALL* the software, you can then *CREATE* the database.
I remember now. create database is just a sql statement .
Actually few years back i would install oracle software.
Then when we got the storage i would create multiple databases on it using few scripts ( i just had a look in those ). My doubt is cleared . Thank you so much.
